Mastuj residents appeal to army general for development of their area
MASTUJ (CHITRAL), Nov 9: Commander 11 Corps Peshawar Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani inaugurated the Boroghil Road here on Sunday.
The corps commander was received at Mastuj by General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General Syed Bukhari. Elites of the area gathered in a local hotel and the Qazi of Mastuj welcomed him and demanded extending developmental network to the area. He thanked of Army Engineering Corps for early completion of the Boroghil road. He strongly criticized the C&W department which used delaying tactics in completing different projects for getting commission. He also alleged that the C&W department had embezzled a huge amount on the Booni-Shandur road and showed it as blacktopped only on paper as the road was still in a very dilapidated condition.
Haji Mohammd Dawood presented a Chitrali Chugha and cap as traditional gift to the corps commander.
Addressing the local elites, Gen Rabbani said this was the first step towards development of the valley and this road would be a milestone for uplifting this backward and neglected area. He said the people of the Boroghil were linked with other parts of Chitral after 60 years. He appreciated the people of Broghil that despite remaining deprived of all basic necessities of life they still hoisted the flag of Pakistan and remained loyal to Pakistan.
“I was very shocked during my previous visit to Boroghil when I knew that people of the area reach Chitral in five days in the summer season and the road remains blocked in the winter due to heavy snowfall,” Gen Khalid RabbaniThey also offered Fateha for the soul of Sadiqullah who died when his bulldozer fell into a ravine during the construction of the Boroghil road. the general directed Brigadier Arif of the Engineering Corps to complete the remaining portion of the road on a priority basis. The corps commander also handed over a cheque for Rs500,000 to the bereaved family of Sadiqullah as a compensation. He also visited the Boroghil valley in a military helicopter and met the elites who warmly welcomed him. The local people demanded construction of the remaining portion of the 16 km road to the last corner of Boroghil valley. He directed Deputy Commissioner Chitral Mohammad Shuaib Jadoon for giving priority to the locals in the recruitment of border police.]]>
I am surprised to know that Rs 157 million have been spent on Broghil Road. It is a huge amount and according to regular visit, estimate, the quality of work done is not more than Rs 50 million and I would also state that the road will get soon cut off in December and even a horse cannot cross the new jeep-able road in coming May. The road will get blocked at Kishmanja very soon and even people on foot would not be able to cross the portion of road that has been built near Kishmanja. In July onward, no jeep can cross the Vedinkhot stream, neither a bridge nor any other alternative arrangement has been made over Vedinkhot Bridge. Jeep cannot cross after Novemebr through Arquan Broghil and if this portion would have been built via Chikar village neither the driver could died nor the machine got accident. It is totally temporary road and will soon will be finished by land slides, avalanches, roack sliding and washed away by streams in the summer.
