Chitrali researchers discuss multilingual education at Asia moot

BANGKOK, Nov 7: The 4th international conference on “Multilingual education for all in Asia and Pacific: Policies, practices and process” began in Bangkok on Wednesday. mootThe conference has been organized by Unisco, Unicef and Mahidol University Bangkok with the support and cooperation of partner organizations. Deputy prime minister Phongthep Thepkanjana was chief guest at inauguration session. The conference is being participated by 300 delegates from around the world. Dr. Inayatullah Faizi, Dr Zubair Hasrat, Zulfiqar, Fakhruddin Akhunzada and Mohammad Zaman Sagar from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are participating in the international moot. On the first day, delegates from Pakistan, India and Nepal, Thailand, Turkey, Canada, Philippine and Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, America and Australia presented findings of their research in various session of the conference. Mohammad Zaman Sagar from Pakistan made a presentation on mother tongue based “Multilingual education in Gawri communities in Swat, prospects and challenges”.  He dealt in detail on the MTB-MLE approach and advocacy by the Forum for Language Initiative(FLI) Pakistan. On the 2nd day Dr Inayatullah Faizi will present his paper on ” Mother tongue Bases Education in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa: Case Study on Political will and its implication” The paper will discuss the legal instruments and enacted for five languages, Pashto, Hindko Seriaki, Khowar and Kohistani to be part of curriculum for schools and up to grade 12. The three-day conference will be wind up on November 8. After that the delegates from Khybyer Pakhtunkhwa will visit mother tongue bases multilingual education in the schools in Thailand to share experience mutually.]]>
