Dog in the manger! Relief goods sent from Punjab rotting in Chitral

CHITRAL, Oct 28: The flood affected people in Chitral have expressed their concern and astonishment over the inordinate delay in the distribution of relief goods sent by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif three months back. reliefTalking to this correspondent here on Monday, Fazle Raziq, Mehboob Shah and others of Reshun and Garam Chashma villages alleged that the local leaders of PML-N were playing ‘dog in the manger’ policy in the disbursement of the relief goods. They said that the relief goods consisted of both food items and non-food items and were meant for the flood affected people across the district. They complained that the food items had decayed and rendered unfit for human consumption as more than three months had passed since they were dumped in the government store. They said that the party’s local leaders distributed some items initially but it was discontinued abruptly to the utter dismay of the flood affected and hapless people who have crying for help since long while the winter season is also drawing nearer. They said that the affected people needed blankets and other beddings for in the winter season which are lying idle in the store.–Zahiruddin]]>
