Sports festival concludes

CHITRAL, Sept 25: A sports festival organized by Susom Youth Development Organization (SYDO) in collaboration with the Karimabad Development Organization concluded at Susom the other day. During the festival, football, volleyball and cerumboard matches were played. Total 42 teams of football and 12 teams of volleyball took part in the festival from across the Garam Chashma valley. In the football final, Pitragram defeated Susom by one 5 to 4 in the penalty. GHS Susom defeated Alzehra School Beshgram in the volleyball final. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chitral president Abdul Lateef was chief guest at the concluding ceremony distributed prizes among the players. He announced 10 thousand rupees for the organizers of the festival and rupees three thousand each for the winner and the runner up teams of football. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Lateef said 3.4 billion rupees have been allocated for the Lowari tunnel by the PTI-led KP government despite the fact that it was federal government project. If the Lowari tunnel was a criterion for votes then the PTI deserves the most now.  He said action will be taken against the Qari who after been posted to GHS Susom had gone to Saudi Arabia but is still drawing salary from the education department Chitral. He said the annual budget of the DHQ hospital Chitral has been increased from three lac to three cror rupees. He also said the PTI will not interfere in the affairs of government departments. PTI general secretary Israr Sabir also spoke. Earlier, the PTI leaders also attended an evaluation programme of the Reproductive Health Initiative for Adolescenc which was organized in collaboration with AKRSP. KADO has started the pilot project for boys and girls of 9 to 19 years to guide them in health, education, sports, information and character building. The programe is of three months duration. Mr Lateef appreciated the efforts of the RHIA,AKRSP and KADO for guiding the youth in their very crucial stage of life. President Ismaili Regional Council lower Chitral Muhammad Afzal, director district TB control Dr Saad Muluk, Registrar SBBU Chitral campus Ibrahim Jan, manager Enterprise Development AKRSP Sajjad Hussain and president Ismaili local council Karimabad Momin Shah were also present. Children presented various programmes which were highly appreciated by the guests and the participants.girls]]>

    Good to see such steps of activities, especially in health and education sectors. The increase in the DHQ hospital annual fund from three lack to three crore is a big initiative by PTI government so far. I expect much more in this sector as Chitral had been ignored for many years.
