Lowari tunnel labourer dies due to negligence

CHITRAL, Sept 8: A labourer was killed when a boulder fell on him on the Chitral side of the under-construction Lowari tunnel. Reports said Ejazur Rehman of Baradam in Ashret was working with the Sambu company when the incident occurred. The injured was shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital Drosh from where he was referred to Peshawar. Due to the poor condition of the hospital ambulance, however, the injured was shifted to a private vehicle on the way to Peshawar. When it reached Upper Dir, the injured died. His body was later taken back to his native village and buried there. People of Chitral have expressed their anger over the failure of the company to provide timely medical care to the  poor labourer.–Syed Nazir Hussain]]>
