Action sought against official for power failures
CHITRAL, Aug 26: A social worker from Drosh, Amir Nawaz Khan, has demanded of the high-ups of water and power ministry to take action against the subdivisional officer Noor Karim of 33 KV line Chakdara-Chitral who is allegedly involved in corruption leading to the frequent breakdown of power supply through the national grid. In a press statement issued here on Monday, he alleged that the official is more interested in minting money by crooks or by crooks and is least bothered to maintain the national grid in conducting condition passing over the Lowari Pass. He said that the officer used to draw Rs 20000 to Rs 30000 on account of petrol charges for the vehicle which was not in a running condition and was confined in a garage in Drosh for one and two years in Chakdara. He said that the official is also involved in the sale of electric pylons and transmission cables in the market as a result of which the transmission line of Chitral remained suspended for days for want of cables and other gadgets. Mr. Khan said that the officer has given illegal commercial connections to a number of people at the cost of thousands of customers but has gone unpunished and unchecked. He said that the abysmally low voltage of power supply in the district is entirely due to the inefficiency and indifferent attitude of the officer.–Zahiruddin]]>
