UPPER DIR, May 27: Residents of Upper Dir have warned of protest if the concerned authorities didn’t recruit local people in the Lowari tunnel project. They said instead of giving preference to local people the NHA and EMS were hiring people from other cities, including Karachi. The residents said local people were qualified enough to be given employment in the project. Mian Zarin of Panhkot Dir, whose son had applied for a post in the project, said it was right of the people of Upper Dir and Chitral to get jobs in the project as it was being executed in these districts. However, he added if the companies could not find qualified and skilled people in the relevant fields then hiring from other areas made sense.]]>
