Youth asked to work for obejectives of Pakistan

CHITRAL, March 23: Pakistan Day was celebrated in Chitral on Saturday. Though there was a public holiday, people attended different functions to highlight the importance of the day.

In this connection, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the deputy commissioner office Chitral. A function was also held at Commerce College under the chair of Deputy Commissioner Rahmatullah Khan Wazir.

Students from different schools presented Naat and spoke on the importance of the day and objectives of the independence of Pakistan. Professor Abdul Sami and others highlighted Pakistan Resolution and its importance.

The speakers asked the young generation to defend the country at all costs. They said unfortunately we have not succeeded to achieve the aims for which Pakistan was established. We still depend on American loans which ahs damaged our dignity.

The DC said independence is a gift from Allah Almighty and we should honour and respect it. He said we face different internal and external challenges but should enhance our national harmony to maintain our exemplary peace. He said we should support each other and participate in social activities for development of the country.

Students also presented a tableau highlighting the importance of Pakistan Day. At last cash awards and prizes were awarded to students who perform excellently. Awards were given to students and heroes of Chitral by non-government organizations.

A large number of students, teachers, Assistant Commissioner and officers of district administration were also present on the occasion.–GH Farooqui
