Chitral's first wholesale fruit & vegetable market opened

CHITRAL, March 7: Fruit and vegetable whole sale market was inaugurated here on Thursday for the first time under the auspices of Chitral Municipal Committee from which the commodities will be supplied to the retailers on controlled prices. SONY DSCIn a function held in this connection, deputy commissioner Rahmatullah Khan Wazir unveiled the plaque to formally inaugurate the market near Atalique bazaar. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the establishment of the market was much needed since long to provide fresh vegetables and fruits and putting an end to black marketing and profiteering. He warned the profiteers of dire consequences and asked them to strictly follow the rules and price list. The chief municipal officer of municipal committee Muhammad Zahir Khan said that the prices of fruits and vegetables will be fixed on daily basis in consonance with that of regional and national markets. He said that the local fruit and vegetables will also be controlled here and only the superfluous quantity will be allowed to be sent to the down districts to arrest their in the area. Meanwhile, assistant commissioner Chitral Roohul Amin paid a surprise visit to the district jail and inspected the barracks of the prisoners and met the inmates. Talking to this correspondent, he expressed his satisfaction over the state of cleanliness and the quality of facilities provided to the prisoners. He said that the jail manual is being practices in letter and spirit and appreciated the efficiency of the jail superintendent Riaz Ahmed. He said that the very basic purpose of jail term was the reclamation of the prisoners to make them useful members of the society with least degree of crime rate.
