Damaged power line still unrepaired

CHITRAL, March 4: Work on the restoration of the transmission line from the national grid to Chitral damaged during the recent snowfall could not be started even after passage of seven days. An official of the grid station in Drosh on Monday said workers of the department were unable to go to the Lowari Pass due to the impending danger of avalanches. He said the workers might be sent to the site within a couple of days accompanied by the personnel of district border police provided by deputy commissioner Chitral. He said the necessary consignments had been dispatched to the base of Lowari Pass and it had been estimated that five days would take in the restoration of the line by erecting the power poles if the weather did not turn inclement. Meanwhile, the city and the road side villages are without electricity for the last eight days.–Zahiruddin]]>
