Chitral lawyers strike against Karachi killings
CHITRAL, March 4: Lawyers in Chitral on Monday observed a strike against the killing of about 50 people in a terror acctak in Karachi on Sunday. The strike was observed on the call of Pakistan Bar Council. The strike caused immense trouble to litigants, especially those who had come to Booni and Chitral from far-off areas to take up their cases. As there was no information of the strike in advance, the litigants were told about it after reaching the courts. In the meantime, the bail-after-arrest plea of former district nazim Chitral Maghfirat Shah could also be not taken up due to the lawyers’ strike. After rejection of his plea in the court of senior civil judge and judicial magistrate Shoaib Mohamamd on March 1, his lawyers had filed a plea application with the District and Sessions Judge Syed Zumrad Shah. The hearing of the plea was fixed for today but it could not be taken up due to the strike. Now th case may be heard on Tuesday.]]>
