I'll transform Chitral, says Musharraf

ISLAMABAD, Feb 24: Former President Pervez Musharraf said if he got another opportunity to lead the country, he would work more devotedly to bring Chitral at par with the developed areas of Pakistan. He was addressing a gathering of people from Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan at the G-9 cricket ground via a telephonic link from abroad on Sunday evening. The former military ruler said during his tenure he laid special focus on the development of Chitral. Besides other projects, the construction of the Lowari Tunnel, Shandur road and Mastuj bridges were most significant. He said the people of Chitral loved him and he loved the people of Chitral. “If you continued your support to me, God willing I will get another opportunity to transform not only Chitral but the whole country.” Gen Musharraf said he had already decided to contest elections from Chitral. He said due to lack of leadership the country was facing lots of crises, adding a sincere and dedicated leadership was needed to seer the nation out of the mess. He said he would soon return to the country and initiate his political activities. He said his main constituency for the election would be the National Assembly seat of Chitral. Those who also spoke on the occasion included Chaudhry Shafiq, the president of APML Islamabad chapter, Raja Shahid, the president of the APML youth wing and Jamshed Gilgiti, the general secretary of the APML youth wing.]]>
