Household items distributed among deserving persons
DROSH, June 10: About 30 sewing machines and different household items were distributed among 60 persons, mostly women, from the Madaglasht valley the other day.
The items were arranged by Young Star Development Organization (YSDO) of Drosh. Speaking at a function held on the occasion, chairman YSDO Asfandyar Khan said they had been working in different sectors in the most neglected and remote localities of Chitral to bring a qualitative change in the life standard of the residents.
He said YSDO was also working in 10 government schools and as many government health outlets in their maintenance and providing them free equipment besides imparting training to women to enable them to gain their livelihood at their doorstep with dignity. “We also bury unclaimed dead bodies and distribute free medicines among the poor patients. Today we are distributing sewing machines and different items among the deserving people of Madaglasht valley,” he added.
Arshad Haroon, the regional head of the YSDO, told the participants that they were supporting the needy with the help of the local community and different organizations. He said YSDO was working at the country level and its main focus was on Chitral where it launched different schemes in collaboration with local support organizations on good governance and human rights. Former nazim Union Council Drosh Haider Abbas and elites of Madaglasht valley also spoke on the occasion.—G.H. Farooqui
