Job quota sought
CHITRAL, May 31: A Kalash social worker from Bumburate valley has demanded of the government to provide job quota to the Kalash community in the under-construction Golen Gol Hydropower project. In a press statement issued here on Thursday, Mr Wazir alleged that the director of Golen Gol Hydropower project had filled the posts of security guards without giving any advertisement in the press and hired a number of non-locals. He regretted that there was high rate of unemployment in the area while the posts of such trivial nature are given to those from the other districts which is a great injustice with the locals. Wazir said a large number of Kalash youth were wandering jobless while they have no source of earning to feed their families with the result that poverty is reigning supreme in the Kalash valleys. He said the poverty-stricken Kalash cannot compete with the other people of the district in getting jobs both in the private and public sectors. The Kalash leader has demanded of the government to fix job quota for the Kalash youth in the Golen Gol project to mitigate poverty in the area.–Zahiruddin ]]>
