Lowari Tunnel my biggest achievement
CHITRAL, May 21: MNA Shahzada Mohiuddin has said the construction of Lowari Tunnel was the biggest achievement of his political career which has opened the avenues of progress and prosperity for the backward valley. [caption id="attachment_1983" align="alignleft" width="142" caption="Shahzada Mohiuddin"][/caption] Addressing the workers of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) in Drosh, he said he served the area after being elected as an MNA four times, chairman of the district council twice and district nazim once. Mr Mohiuddin said people of Chitral had always exercised their rights of vote in favour of those who served them in best way and it was due to this fact that he was repeatedly elected by the people of Chitral since 1982. He appreciated the decision of nominating his son Shahzada Khalid Pervaiz as the candidate of provincial assembly seat from Chitral-I in the forthcoming general election and assured the workers that his son will work for the progress of the area with new zest and zeal. Hundreds of workers had assembled in the venue from the distant valleys of Arandu, Damil, Sheshi Koh, Madak Lusht, Kessu and Jinjirate. On this occasion, two leaders of PPP from Shehshi Koh and Jinjirate valleys – Mohammad Khan and Umara Khan – announced their decisions to join the APML with hundreds of their supporters from the valleys. The president of the drivers union Mumtaz Ali Jan also announced to join the party with his fraternity. Shahzada Khalid Parvaiz, Sohrab Khan, Rab Nawaz Khan, Haji Nazneen Khan, Haji Zahir Khan, Abdul Khaliq, Abdur Rahim Sherati, Sher Zamin Khan and others also spoke on the occasion and eulogized the accomplishments of Shahzada Mohyuddin. They said with the credit of Lowari Tunnel project, the party will get a thumping majority in Chitral in the next elections.–Zahiruddin.]]>
@Sardar Sab. I totally agree with every word of your comment. I only mentioned Abdul Akbar to identify that Mr. Mohaudin was not MNA in 2005 when the work resumed. I understand fully that Moulana does not have the capacity and capability to build a birdge lest Lowari Tunnel. No single political leader should take credit and use Lowari Tunnel as a political slogan. The great Bhutto and Musharraf (not that great) did it out of their sheer love for Chitral.
Yes, The Lowari Project was visualized by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in seventies, as he had a vision for development of Pakistan, Muslim Ummah. But he had more love for the masses of Chitral, as such he wanted to bring them at par with the developed areas, that’s why he started work on Lowari Tunnel project but Ziaul Haq not only stopped this project but also destroyed the relevent files of the mega project. All the successive govts did nothing in this respect, even Abdul Akber Khan has no role for this project, as he was deadly against President Pervez Musharraf and was abusing him outside assemblies. It was the love of Pervez Musharraf for Chitral community, not for any single soul, as he was the 2nd visionery leader of Pakistan after ZAB Shaheed. So we pray for the departed soul of ZABS and should also wish all the best for Pervez Musharraf. Nobody else from Chitral should take credit for this for their election campaign but we have a lot of regards for those who voiced for Lowari in all forums.

Work started on Lowari Tunnel on September 8, 1975 when Mr. Ataliq Jaffer Ali Shah was MNA. Work halted in 1975 and never resumed until 2005. Between this period Mr. Mohiuddin became MNA three times and a Federal Minister once. But he could not resume the work on Lowari Tunnel. Work resumed in 2005 when Moulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali was MNA from Chitral and Mr. Mohiuddin did not represent Chitral at any parliamentary forum. Again in elections of 2008 the same Mohiuddin was elected as MNA (unfortunately) and the work halted in 2010 and has not resumed since then while he is a sitting MNA and represents Chitral.
Keeping these facts in view, how on earth he can say that Lowari Tunnel was his achievement. This is about time that we call a spade a spade and understand that Mr. Mohiuddin has been entrusted with the trust of Chitrali people more than anybody else but he has failed Chitralis. He has proven himself a failed statesman and he does not have any one major project to his credit in Chitral. In the field of Education, Power, Health, infrastructure and Tourism can he or his supporters name anyone major project that he undertook for Chitral. Nay, none.
