Biori valley linked to national grid

CHITRAL, May 8:  Electrification work at Government Middle School Biori and its suburbs have been completed by Young Star Development Organization with financial support from Chitral Integrated Area Developmental Programme (CIADP). Villagers of BioriThis was stated at a function held at Biori valley in this regard, where District Coordination Officer Rahmatullah Wazir was chief guest. Prominent lawyer and general secretary of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chitral Fazal Rahim in his welcome address said infrastructure in the valley was badly damaged in the 2010 floods and the area remained inaccessible. People of the entire valley were compelled to travel on foot carrying edible items on their back to and from 15 kilometres. There was no road, no electricity in the area while all roads and bridges were washed away. He thanked YSDO for completing different development projects in the valley like electrification of the school, drinking water supply schemes, flood protection works, sanitation, trainings etc. He said YSDO also arranged free medical camps for the flood victims with the financial support of CIADP. Assistant Manager Operation Pesco Tariq Khan, Executive Magistrate Ziaur Rehman, president ANP Muzafar Jan and other politicians and elites of the area were present on the occasion.  The DCO switched on a button and connected the valley to the national grid station. Addressing the participants, he also appreciated the support of CIADP, adding it was playing vital role in development of Chitral. He said it was very difficult for government organizations to provide all facilities to its citizens but civil society work with the state-run organizations to provide all basic amenities to the local people. Talking to media persons, Asfandiar Khan, Chairman YSDO,  said that they completed more than 19 developmental schemes with the financial support of CIADP worth 10.53 million rupees.
