Mastuj avalanche: one killed, eight injured at Chapari

CHITRAL, March 22: A man was killed and eight others injured when an avalanche buried them in Chapali village of upper Chitral on Thursday morning. Police said the villagers were digging a channel for a mini-hydro-power station on a self-self basis when the avalanche from the nearby hillock hit them, killing one Gulab Khan on the spot. The injured were brought to the tehsil headquarters hospital Booni where two of them were in precarious condition. Meanwhile, the road leading to the different valleys of Torkhow, Oveer, Golen, Karimabad and Garam Chashma remained closed due to avalanches.–Zahiruddin]]>
